I. INTERNAL SENATE MATTERS
A. Regent - Statements
Pertinent Romanum Information Status discussions
The Regent stated that some unessential Items have been removed from public areas to achieve clean up of things left out by mistake, or unwarranted prims. This work will continue behind the scenes. It's not a remake or redesign, just a simple cleanup. For example, Ausus' house remains a tribute and museum to his memory, but some higher prim items were removed or lower prim substitutes put in place to ensure our ability to function and rez things in the Legion field above it. A little cleanup of things is in order but shouldn't be intrusive. Lost items and things left out are being removed. Another example was a dog left under the stairs at Hippodrome. The Regent asked people to pay attention to what they leave out.
The Regent provided an update on Romanum IV, stating that Jonny Galtier-Caproni has purchased the parcel and we have put it in our family group, which includes Miles and Soydan, so they have a place for their needs. Ariel's small beach club and swim club and the docks for events will remain. "Rome wasn't built in a day." We will develop it as we go.
The Regent then turned to Romanum III. He reported that there is one plot available. It's an odd size lot but it has not been rented as offered. It will need to be converted to townhouse plots, which would open up space for new renters, or the Temple of Diana will be put back like it was, as per Emperor's decision.
Ariel asked whether the cleanup included the sky, saying he thought there were more prims up there than stars. The Regent responded that yes, there are items up that are going to need cleaning.
[At this point, the Pontifex Maximus offered prayers for the Emperor and his consort, and for Romanum and Pompeii. A moment of silence was kept to think of those who have passed, and those who are bereaved. The Regent apologized for skipping ahead.]
The Regent resumed the discussion of Romanum III and asked whether anyone had opinions about whether it should be townhouses or revert to the temple.
Ariel commented that he was glad to hear of the temple reinstatement because he has the idea to have a hunt to honor Diana, perhaps on the opening day. The Pontifex Maximus said this was a good idea and asked Ariel to contact him. The Regent said he liked that temple too, and that he would relay the information to the Emperor.
Turning to the Senate, the Regent stated that with Booker resigning he would need to appoint a new Senate lead, and that he has asked Ras to fill that position because he is an experienced Senator. Ras has accepted and will help by running Senate meetings and gathering topics from Senators in the coming months. The Regent expressed his appreciation to Ras, as did others in attendance.
Further on the Senate, the Regent stated that new Senators are a high priority. New Senators must be voted on under the Constitution so it may take time. The Senators have discussed voting procedures and now have a plan to get the ball rolling. The Regent said he will announce new Senators in the coming month after approvals.
In conclusion, regarding the senate, the Regent stated that we are still looking for a Senate scribe, a person familiar with Romanum and able to work directly under the Senate lead. The Regent thanked Jonny Galtier-Caproni for filling in.
B- Matters arising for discussions as proposed on the floor by Senators.
The Regent invited Senators to raise topics for discussion. No matters were raised.
II Religious Life
The Pontifex Maximus stated that there is not really much to say about the religious life, it's the same as always, we managed with some difficulties to combine the family celebration in the palace with the LOVIS EPOLUM of Jupiter. For the next month there is still talk of a religious festival, but "I have nothing to say at the moment." Although the PM would like to take up Ariel,'s idea, there may also be a new construction of the Temple of Bacchus, but there is no date for it yet.
The Regent thanked the Pontifex Maximus of Pompeii, Ben St-Clare, and PM Petrus, for officiating at Gladiators and Chariots for Vulcanalia, and integrating festivals to those events.
III Tribunate Report
The Regent asked if the tribunes had anything they need to be brought up. No topics were forthcoming.
IV. EVENTS RP- Combat- Sports- Art-Performance-Music/Club-Religious -Coordination. Upcoming/plans in the works, Announcements or Status
Janu Octavus thanked the Regent for sorting out a clash between events. The Regent responded that the problem had been an accident, with the benefit that now people know the procedures and places to find information.
Petrus noted that we have done this collaboration with Ben, the Pontifex Maximus of Pompeii and himself, on two occasions now, bringing together the important festival of Jupiter and the festival of Vulcan that gives him hope that our two peoples are still connected. The Regent stated that we should be inclusive that way.
V Other Business from the Floor
Dax observed that he had attempted a leisure sail through Romanum this past week, but was stopped by new stationary bridges in Romanum II, where there had previously been draw bridges. The Regent thanked him for the information and said that those bridges were not supposed to impede sailing. He said he would have to check what happened.
VI. CLOSURE OF SENATE MEETING
Reminder of next Senate meeting date and time: October 9th 2022 at 11am SLT.
The Regent thanked everyone for attending and declared the meeting adjourned at 11:49 AM SLT.
