I. Welcome C4 Leone RoB Karu (aka Cato) back to Romanum and to the Senate.
II. OPENING REMARKS BY THE EMPEROR STEPHANUS GALTIER
First, we can say how pleased we all were with our grand Xth anniversary celebrations. They were a great success and I want to thank Senator Janu and all who helped and participated. On a more sombre note, we all face the uncertainty from the RL pandemic and we must stick together as a family. I was informed yesterday one of our newest prominent citizens, Myklos Tethysia, not only opened a Urology Medical Center in Romanum V, but just yesterday created a memorial garden in Romanum II for reflection on those we have lost. I have also announced the great news regarding Consul Rad's RL husband and his successful surgery. Before I continue, let me ask if Senator Petrus haw any update on Pax.
ƤЄƬƦƲƧ ƓƝƛЄƲƧ ƤƠMƤЄƖƲƧ: he is at home, a little better now, and he hope He can come back to Romanum soon
Strymon O. Whitewolf Parthicus: just want to add that Consul Rad apologises he was not able to come today, but is sending his gratitude for all the well wishes and plans to be back this week. He misses everyone.
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Please think of Prince Jin. He has been ill. I think he is getting better though.
Janu Shimada Vindelici: Can I also mention Flamen Qarbon who is deserving of our prayers. I understand he is unwell at present.
C4 Leone RoB™Karu: Flamen Q was brutally attacked & robbed returning home after tending his fish. at the university. I spoke with him today. His spirits have been lifted & his ready to move on.
III. VISION FOR ROMANUM'S SECOND DECADE
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Regarding the Vision for Romanum's Second Decade. It started with the 10th anniversary celebration. That is complete. Consuls Rad and Stef and I have been talking. We hope to have some news soon on what next steps we might suggest but we ALWAYS welcome suggestions on ways to make Romanum more appealing and exciting, more inviting for new people. That is all I have for now.
C4 Leone RoB™Karu: The one thing that we must keep in thought for our grand city is the fact that it is the millennials that will be the next wave of citizens
Janu Shimada Vindelici: Back in October, at least three of us submitted detailed views on Romanum's future, after careful reflection. Can we be assured that those submissions will be considered?
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Yes.
IV. REQUEST TO THE PONTIFEX MAXIMUS
Senator Janu Shimada Vindelici: As you know, we have many fine temples in Romanum. We also have 11 priests, by my reckoning, under the Pontifex Maximus. Of those, 4 have carried out some form of public religious duty, in the last 6 months. I believe that greater activity by the priests would give greater opportunity for RP in our city. One citizen at the Anniversary planning meeting gave some helpful suggestions on what the priesthood might do during the Anniversary. I am proposing that the PM reports to the next Senate meeting, on each priest's plans for the next 12 months. That could exclude the four who carry out activities at present
Ruggeris Britannicus: Personally I would go further and suggest if they have not made any ceremonies over the last two years, there is not much meaning in their titles.
V. TRIBUNATE REPORT
Tribune Leader Popov Huldschinsky: We, the Tribunes, like to inform the present distinguished gentries of our last meeting with the Plebeians Assembly on Sunday, 23rd February. This last Plebeian Assembly meeting was held at the Legion Fort trying, therefore, to promote to Plebeians this part of Romanum and thus reminding about the Body of Legionaries who is protecting and defending the Roman Empire as well as protecting our beloved Emperor. The Tribunate would like to thank Ariel Vindelici for organising the venue.
In the course of this meeting certain points were raised of which, some will be presented to this assembly if it could bear it:
It was remarked that this year Olympics combined with the Romanum 10th anniversary celebrations have been one of the best seen and hopefully would be an indication to the future. Senator Janu took this opportunity to thanks the gathering for their effort.
Different items where brought to the attention of the Tribunate:
- Trees in Romanum.
- zCS implementation for Plebeian use.
- Priest to be more involved in RP through their functions.
These items will be elaborated and decision taken during the next private Tribune meeting and thus, the outcome will be presented to the Plebeians. Since this meeting was held during the Olympics and 10th Anniversary celebration it was kept short as to allow fellow Tribunes involved in organising and participating to proceed.
We would like to inform the prominent assembly that a new discussion group has been created by Ruggeris Britannicus. Members of this group will meet once a month to discuss the content of writings with a Roman setting, Roman life, arts, etc. Members are welcome, since more people belonging will bring a better medium for conversation. Further information please contact Ruggeris Britannicus or should you want to join the group look for: "Romanum and Pompeii Book Club Group".
VI. CITY EVENTS
Janu Shimada Vindelici: First, a big thank you to all for being involved in this year's anniversary celebrations. Organisers, contestants, sponsors, spectators, administrators. The events were also the friendliest in my time in Romanum. Thanks, all.
Now, we are looking forward to Floralia, at the end of the month.
There will be a special party at Myklos' clinic.
Ariel is planning a garden party in the forum. There will be the traditional garden contest.
There is plenty of room in the calendar for more
In July, we will have the Neptunalia festival.
As Tribune Popov said, Ruggeris has started a book reading group. You are all welcome to join.
I encourage you to think of other ideas. Sometimes, discussions can lead to new ideas. The co-ordinators have a list of venues, and can find contacts.
VII. ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR
Zarek Antonius: I was wondering about the Romanum web page. Who maintains that (not the calendar - I know Janu usually handles that - but the main parts of the page)? I ask because the Antonius family information appears to be gone. I would like to ask that it be put back up and can supply the text and information to whomever is in charge of updating the page. I also believe the list of people of the web page may not be completely updated with (I am not 100% sure but with many people having time to come in world, a correct and updated Romanum web page would be smart, in my opinion.
Emperor Stephanus Galtier: Zarek, I maintain the webpage. Please send me the latest info on your family and I will add it back. Please also send me any corrections, in general.
Zarek Antonius: I plan to reconvene the RP committee. RL had taken a lot of my time last fall and the first few months of this year but that has subsided and I plan to call a meeting of the committee in the next week or two to discuss ideas for the summer and to provide assistance for plans already in motion (if applicable). Everyone is welcome to attend and there is a group specifically for the RP Committee (see my profile and please feel free to join).
Next Senate meeting 17 May at 11:00SLT
Gratitude,
