I. REMEMBRANCE OF PAOLO PARTHICUS
- Remembering the late Paolo Parthicus.
In remembrance of Paolo Parthicus, the Senate recognised his pater, Senator Ras Galtier Parthicus, who spoke first:
“The past week has been a very emotional one for myself and quite a few of Pao's friends. We gathered last Thursday to thank him for being our friend and to wish him well on his next voyage. Some words from that service: ‘That was his nature. Direct. Honest. Stubborn. Loyal. Always planning the next step even as others were catching up.’, ‘To those of you that knew Pao, you know that he was a kind man with a big heart. His family and friends were very important to him. To those of you that did not really have a chance to get to know him, he would have made your day just a bit brighter.’, ‘Paolo , the traces and signs of your love remain in our hearts forever, for all that remains are the wonderful moments with a lovable person. Time brings us comfort’, So much has been said and written this past week about Pao. I can only say that Pao is going to be missed, his friendly nature, his straight forwarded talking , the value that he placed on friends. Till we meet again Pao
Imperator Stephanus Galtier addressed the Senate saying: “I was very moved by the outpouring of love for Paolo at his memorial service. He touched so many people's lives. But that reminds me of the love we have in our community of Romanum and Pompeii and the dedication and commitment so many have. And I am always touched by the real-life suffering of so many of our dear friends. So many of us are struck with serious illnesses or other misfortunes in life and all we can do is love one another. Hoping not to make him feel awkward or betray his confidence, I want to highlight someone in this room that is dealing with a difficult real-life situation. Hoping not to make him feel awkward or betray his confidence, I want to highlight someone in this room that is dealing with a difficult real life situation. Our new scribe, Connor, real life partner has faced a serious health emergency this past month and in fact his partner was rushed to the ER just yesterday and YET Connor STILL shows up here to do his duty. We are so grateful for Connor and people like him. We love you Connor and we love all our family.”
II. INTERNAL SENATE MATTERS
No matters arose from the Senate floor.
III. RELIGIOUS LIFE
The Senate recognised the Pontifex Maximus, Senator ƤЄƬƦƲƧ ƓƝƛЄƲƧ ƤƠMƤЄƖƲƧ, who addressed the Senate with his report when in the past Romanum had too few inhabitants or too many temples. To remedy this deficiency, flamen used more than one temple. Considering this, the Pontifex Maximus said that the Temple of uno now has Leo Qar Galtier Leone Kanya as a flamen but also the Temple of Concordia in the future. Pontifex Ariel Vindelici Karu is asked to take Neptune to the Mars’ temple and he has agreed regarding this. The initiation of the temples will be carried out in the near future. It only comes down to selecting dates because there are lots of events at the moment. This past month, the celebrations of Mars took place and thanks go to Ariel Vindelici Karu and the Quinquatro of the Minerva as well as to Tybalt Galtier-Caproni.
IV. TRIBUNATE REPORT
Imperator Stephanus Galtier addressed the Senate saying I0n, the new Tribunate Lead, did not know he needed to be at the Senate meeting to give his report but that the 2021 Tribunate, under I0n, has meant twice this year, already.
V. ROMANUM'S XI ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Romanum's anniversary is scheduled for 19 to 21 March 2021.
Imperator Stephanus Galtier addressed the Senate saying: “I sent out a preliminary schedule on the anniversary this next weekend. That plan CAN change and I will be working with Ariel on the plan.”
The Senate recognised Ariel Vindelici Karu who is the events coordinator: “First a question about the time change. Will the schedule times for the anniversary stay as they are? About the fashion show... Unfortunately, so far only one application has been received, which is a bit too little for a show. I just wanted to briefly explain again what it is. In contrast to previous Mr. Romanum shows, the focus here is not on competition but on fun. Anyone who knows how to dress independently can participate. You show Romanum what garments you like to wear, once for festive occasions and once revealingly, with more skin and legs. A jury will then also choose a winner of the evening, but above all the show should be a show and not a competition. You can still register for the whole of next week, either via IM or notecard to me. Due to the time change, I would not be able to hold the fashion show on Friday, so I would suggest moving it to Sunday. It could then be a part of the Anniversary Closing Show and the whole thing would then take place together with a banquet in the Legion Fort. As in previous years, Sunday is dedicated to the Legion, starting this year with a dance-strip show, a Legion parade and a show fight. The exact times and a schedule for the anniversary will be published in the next few days. Regarding the anniversary, I would also like to say that everyone is welcome with their ideas to help shape the event. As the event coordinator, I am just a cog in the gears of Romanum. This also applies to future events - the events live from taking part, Romanum lives from taking part. With this in mind, just get in touch with me, then we can create great events for Romanum together.
VI. ACCESS TO PROPERTIES - ROMANUM RENTALS
-This Agenda item was proposed by Stendhra Elvson, Imperial Palace Slaver, who asked if new citizens of Romanum be satisfied that they cannot live in Romanum due to the lack of suitable rentals in Romanum.
Imperator Stephanus Galtier: “Romanum has I guess a welcome situation, we have no vacant land for sale and have not had any for months. That could change tomorrow, as if often does. But i have at least two people who want to rent some land. I think I have a solution with the CURRENT Romanum Sims (maybe), but I sent a notice yesterday to see what, if any, additional demand for land there might be and if me getting another sim is warranted. It would be risky for me to get another sim.”
VII. ANY OTHER BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR
The Senate heard from Senator Zarek Antonius who spoke as follows: “I have been busy with other matters and have not had an opportunity to ride around the city lately but I had an opportunity to do that today on the way to this meeting. A few things I noticed (I have multiple points here but listing one by one so everyone can read them): 1) Emperor - your boat outside the baths. The bow protrudes across the pathway making it difficult to get by. Perhaps you could have the boat moved back some so the bow does not block the way? 2) By accident, I strayed from the path and found that some of the bushes on people’s property are not phantom. Does everyone know to make bushes, trees and all landscaping elements phantom? If not, hopefully this reference will do so. 3) Does the very oversized and in my opinion, out of character, Tree house on ROM IV meet covenant/Building standards for ROM? It looks taller than the Palace (which I though was forbidden - at one time, no building was allowed to be taller than the palace) and looks more like Tarzans home than something that would have been in ancient Rome. How is checking to make sure building and prims are appropriate for Ancient Roman standards - I thought the Pro Consuls’ did that in the past? Is that no longer happening? If it isn’t happening, shouldn’t it? Again, that tree house looks extremely out of place to me and once we let our Ancient Roman standards slide, it’s a slippery slope to keep things under control in terms of appropriate Roman buildings and Prims.”
Imperator Stephanus Galtier thanked the Senator for his input saying he would check on all that was mentioned and work with people on anything that we might want to change.
