2018 Election of Romanum's First Tribune of the People!!
February 28, 2018
With the approval of Romanum's new constitution, we will be adding a second legislative body in Romanum. This body has historical precedence in ancient Rome. It was known as The Tribune of the People, also Tribune of the Plebs and it's membership was open to the plebeians of Rome - those without special status. It gave voice to such citizens.

Unlike the Senate, which is appointed by the Emperor and must be land owners, ANY citizen of Romanum can be a Tribune. The person is elected by the citizens of Romanum.
Examine section II.C of the Romanum constitution for the relevant passages on the Tribune. http://www.romanum.net/constitvtion-of-romanvm
So, we are getting started late for 2018 in electing our first Tribune. Therefore, those who are elected this year will serve a shortened term to end December 31, 2018.
We would like there to be 10 Tribunes who are elected, but hope many run to be a Tribune. Per the constitution, the top 10 candidates with the most votes will be elected. "If in the case of the last spots in the election of 10 candidates are tie votes, those tied candidates would compete in a tie breaking election to determine who wins the last spots within 2 weeks."
This year, our election committee will be:
ƛԼЄҲƖ ǀηѕιɗє-ŔƠMƛƝƠѴ-ƤӇƠЄƝƖҲ (alexbeauchamp)
Ejix E. Silvercloud (ejix.silvercloud)
Zαηժεr Aɳƚσɳιυʂ Hαժriαηνѕ (zanderzak)
The primary purpose of the election committee is too regulate campaign advertisement and post campaign advertisement on our citizenship group - Empire of Romanum, on behalf of the candidates.
So candidates - submit your poster boards to be hung at the Forum Rostra (full perm) or any advertisements to be posted on the Empire of Romanum to one of the three members of the election committee.
*** A Tribune must be a citizen of Romanum. He must be a male. He must have been a citizen for at least 60 days. He cannot be a Senator.
*** Candidates have until March 14, 2018 to announce their candidacy to the election committee. Candidates can add whatever profile texture they like on the candidate board in the Forum Rostra. BE SURE TO HAVE YOUR EMPIRE OF ROMANUM TAG ON IN ORDER TO ENTER THE RACE.
*** The official campaign period will start March 15, 2018 and end on March 31, 2018. During this time, candidates can advertise with a poster board in the Forum Rostra or have the election committee send a group notice in the Empire of Romanum.
*** The election period, when citizens can vote for one or more candidates, will start April 1, 2018 and end on April 15, 2018 end of day. Citizens will click on the candidate board in the Forum Rostra to vote. Voters must wear their Empire of Romanum tag when they vote. Each citizen is allowed to vote for a total of 10 times during the election period, in one trip or multiple trips to the candidate board. A citizen can vote for himself. A citizen can apply all 10 of his votes to one candidate or split them up over many candidates.
*** Votes will be tallied starting April 16, 2018. If there is a tie among candidates for the final slots of 10 voted for, a tie breaking election will be held. It will only include those candidates who tied for the final slots of 10 voted. Citizens will vote in the tie breaking election starting April 22, 2018. The tie breaking election will end April 29, 2018.
*** Whether there is a tie breaking election or not, the 2018 Tribune of the People term will start May 1, 2018 (and end December 31, 2018).
*** The winners of the election will choose a leader to lead them among their members. That leader, in consultation with the members, will determine how often they meet, whether a meeting is closed to the public or open to the public. They can meet in the Senate building or any other suitable building in Romanum. They will also assign a scribe to keep track of their meeting minutes. The scribe should NOT be a Tribune.
So, here's to Romanum's new legislative body and the many candidates I hope will run!!
Emperor Galtier
Our great Emperor has changed the candidacy requirements: " *** A Tribune must be a citizen of Romanum. He must be a male. He must have been a citizen for at least 60 days. He cannot be a Senator." For this initial election, the 60-day requirement has been waved.
